from The Imaging Resource:
"Canon yesterday announced the firmware update for the 5D Mark II digital SLR camera, designed to fix the "black dot" error, as well as a banding issue."
www.imaging-resource.com/NEWS/...4.html
The story also includes before/after proof of the fix.
It's great that this major defect (at least for people who photograph stage events where lighting often appears in frame) has been promptly addressed. Now if Canon can make the crippled (no autofocus, no manual exposure control, etc) video mode actually work...

Re: Canon 5D Mark II update fixes "black dot" problem
Sat, January 10, 2009 - 2:53 AMOh, was wondering about the need for a CF card when I checked the firmware on my 5D MII.
Read the instructions for the firmware update on the Canon site and DLed the PDFs too. I'll do the firmware later.
Thanks!
