This will be my first DSLR.
I plan on geting the pancake lens to pair with the body for a light, less buly camera to take backpacking.

Re: Good review of Pentax K2000
Fri, February 13, 2009 - 2:26 PMI love the idea of the pancake lens and would totally buy one if they made it for my system!
Tell us how the camera works out for you once you take it around the block a few times. -

Re: Good review of Pentax K2000
Fri, February 13, 2009 - 4:01 PMAs far as I know, pentax is the only company that makes.
I heard about this from a friend who has been happy with the pancake + k100 combo. He says it takes good shots and fits in his cargo pants pocket. -

Sat, February 14, 2009 - 8:47 AM40mm lens is no different than of something on a point and shoot, why not get a fixed lens camera setup and save some bucks if you don't need the lens interchangeability? -

Re: Good review of Pentax K2000
Sat, February 14, 2009 - 12:00 PMAh, but I ~would~ have the ability to change lenses AND have it be travelable.
I already have a point and shoot.
I want the anti-shake in the body, the versatility of a DSLR, and other things, now. -

Re: Good review of Pentax K2000
Sun, February 15, 2009 - 7:34 AMHow many times are you actually going to change lens?
Some professional photogs even though you may or may not be in that category such as Stella Johnson don't use but one lens.

She keeps everything simple using a 35mm film camera.
If you can afford one I would get a Leica M8 with a 35mm and perhaps

Re: Good review of Pentax K2000
Sun, February 15, 2009 - 1:59 PMAn interesting suggestion re: fixed lens camera but for me there are just too many downsides to a P&S not the least of which is the lag time starting up and between shots and lack of RAW. However, there is a P&S camera that intrigues me and may be something worth considering: the Sigma DP-1. It has a 3/4 sensor and a fixed lens with no zoom and is a lot cheaper than the Leica M8. I haven't seen any tests or heard any feedback on the DP-1 but it might be worth looking into.
