Akkana Peck will demonstrate tips, tricks, and techniques for using GIMP to improve your digital photographs and turn them into art. She'll also cover more advanced details like how to use layer modes, layer masks, and (if time and interest permit) gradient maps and writing GIMP scripts and plug-ins.
About the Speaker

Akkana Peck is a freelance programmer and the author of the book, Beginning GIMP: From Novice to Professional. She has worked for a diverse collection of companies that include Netscape, Silicon Graphics, Sun, HP, and Apple, and has contributed to numerous open source projects such as GIMP and Mozilla.

Akkana will be speaking at the O'Reilly Open Source Convention (OSCON) 2009 in San Jose, CA on July 22. Her website can be found at shallowsky.com.
