Wed, December 17, 2008 - 1:08 PMLeica use to do that a lot of limited editions during the 70's and 80's in order to boost sales, they would use overstock parts and zero the serial numbers to low numbers. I know this because, one of the people I use to work for was a store manager for high end camera store in NYC, and told me the inside scoop.
Most of the time the cameras ended up as collector items, because no one would use it. If it appreciates 5-10% a year it would be better than the current stock market.
