I covet.

" ... end of November."
So, presumably, it's all done but some minor tweaks.
One thing I don't see... spec's as to how enviro-sealed the body is. Did I just miss it in the press release? Or...?
Any leaks of images from folks shooting prototypes (understanding that final firmware may make things much better for the pixelpeepers) ?
Also... that HD video mode. I understand Nikon's D90 has a video mode, too... but it's pretty bad (as video goes). If I'm correctly reading between Canon's lines, it looks more gimmicky than quality for Canon, too... but I could be wrong. Doesn't Canon already have adapters that can let (at least some of) their video-cameras use their EF lenses?
Ironic... Imagine 5 years ago: Sony's *just* entering the dSLR market (with it's KonicaMinolta buy). Now, imagine that someone says, "I've seen the long-range plans of Nikon, Canon, and Sony. One of 'em is gonna be first to market with video-in-SLR, and one of 'em is gonna be last. Where's Sony gonna be?" I think 80+% of folks would have guessed Sony would be 1st to market... surely not last! Given Sony and Canon & their rivalry over in the consumer & pro-video markets, who'd have expected *Nikon* to hit it first? 8-]
That "silent mode" looks very cool! They tout it for law enforcement & other undercover work, but IMHO *many* folks will like it... candids, shooting events where the photographer wants to not be too obtrusive, etc.
I also like the looks of the "Peripheral Illumination Correction" ... I *think* I do, anyhow.
Congrats to all the Canon shooters... looks like you're getting a fine piece of gear!

Sat, September 20, 2008 - 10:39 AMNice sensor in a feature stripped body. No tweaks to the AF (3 years later?), same shutter lag, etc... -

Sat, September 20, 2008 - 10:12 PMWow. You can actually input into the 5D Mk II your copyright info.
BTW I'm on the Amazon list for one.
I can't wait! Actually I've been waiting for 3 years now! lol
Just wish Canon would make a near noiseless shutter. -

Sun, September 21, 2008 - 2:17 PMBabe, get a blimp or a cover for it, that is what still photographers use on their cameras on a movie set.

Sat, September 20, 2008 - 8:49 PMNow, finally the silly season is over and companies are announcing reasonable cameras. As a Nikon owner I hope Nikon is not far away from announcing something that competes with this. -

Sat, September 20, 2008 - 9:50 PMGary Nikon does except they don't have good industrial spies like Canon do...:)
